  • Justin_Bieber1Teeny-bopper sensation Justin Bieber has stepped into the major leagues of music. He’s just cut a new publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Group, following up his platinum-selling album My World.

Bieber, 15, began his music career three years ago by posting videos of himself singing on YouTube. He drew more than 10 million views online based on word of mouth alone.

Bieber’s next album, My World (Part II), will be released in March. The lead single, “Baby” (co-written and produced by Tricky Stewart) has already reached No. 1 on the Pop iTunes chart.

“I’m excited for Justin to be with Universal Music Publishing Group as they look at him not only as an artist, but as a producer and a writer, and their belief in that is a long-term vision,” said Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun.

The publishing deal encompasses all of Bieber’s catalogue, including his debut album (Island) and his upcoming album My World (Part II), according to Universal.

“Justin Bieber’s incredible charisma, talent, and mass appeal is already clearly evident with the breakthrough success he is experiencing,” said David Renzer, chairman and chief executive, Universal Music Publishing Group.

“Under the skilled direction of his manager Scooter Braun, we are confident that Justin will continue on his path toward global superstardom,” he added.

Bieber’s debut album was released in November 2009 and has already gone Platinum in the United States.

My World reached the Top 10 on the charts and has reached No. 1 on the Pop iTunes chart since its launch. The album has seven tracks, all of which have charted.

“One Time” was Bieber’s first single released off My World. Co-written and co-produced by UMPG’s Tricky Stewart, the song had success on radio airplay and helped propel Bieber’s career as a teen star on the charts.

“One Less Lonely Girl” (written by UMPG’s Ezekiel Lewis and Balewa Muhammad) was downloaded 113,000 times in its first week and debuted in the Top 20 on radio airplay charts.
