Donald Trump says he wants to ‘’run’’ the Strait with the new Ayatollah. I thought he meant get in a boat together and motor through it, like ‘running the rapids’. But, no…

He meant run it like a couple of crime bosses; like they’d run the South Side, booz, gambling and the unions. He has no way with words. He can barely communicate thoughts.

Trump is now ready to end the war; he has the attention span of an inch worm. The Ayatollah is not; he’s just warming up.

The Ayatollah said Iran will not end this war until the US completely withdraws, evacuates all bases in the region, pays reparations to Iran and Iran receives valid guarantee that it will not be attacked again, whatever that last condition meant.

The Ayatollah represents a 2000 year old civilization; he has time to play with terms.

Trump’s proposal or offer to jointly control Hormuz shows two things. First he is desperate for a way out. Second, he has zero understanding of what drives Iran and its Shia Muslim population and leadership or how they have framed this conflict and what it will take to end it.

Iran casts the war in religious terms of struggle and sacrifice against the Jews and Christians, Israel and the United States. The brilliant Secretary of Defense/War Pete Hegseth casts the war as a crusade.

None of Iran’s terms can be publicly acceptable to Trump, who was reeled in by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in hook, line and sinker, to start this war. He’d be eating crow with those terms.

The Iranians have threatened to unleash ‘’special plans’’ Monday, ostensibly on Israel. Iran has couched this upcoming effort as something that will make it impossible to negotiate an end to the war.

(Editor’s note: Update: Iran launched a substanial missile and drone attack, hitting Tel Aviv and other regions. No deaths were reported.)

I suppose two can play the same BS game and its now Iran’s turn to torture Trump with words. Wonder whether he will lose any sleep.

The US and Iran are very far apart on peace terms. Iran has suffered devastating damage, but it has given Trump a taste of what $150 a barrel oil looks like and its affects on the economy. Maybe, if Trump listens to one or two advisors that understand, its affect on food production.

Who has whom in a strangle hold?

Trump can continue to bomb; I do not think it will have more adverse consequences than it has had to date. I don’t know that Gulf states can even protect their water treatment plants and port facilities, the destruction of which by Iran will be caused by America and Israel starting this war and will affect relations and oil prices.

And, continuing to constrict oil flow will really f*ck up the economies of the West and the US.

Was Trump warned this could happen by his military advisors…the professionals in the room?  Yes, of course he was.

Was he convinced by Netanyahu and his own twisted ego that this war would only take a few days before Iran rolled over and he could claim victory. I am sure so.

Did Trump accomplish anything positive in the Gulf with his attack? What did President’s Biden, Obama and Clinton understand that Trump could not about a war against Iran?

Aside from having humane souls there were reasons they did not help Israel attempt to destroy Iran.

If Iran allows Trump to escape this war, he will be more vengeful, dangerous, and hateful then ever before.

Israel’s relations with the US will probably suffer. They need the US.

Trump has created even more damage with NATO countries; NATO will suffer as a result of their not joining him in this war, and he will become more isolationist then ever.

If he understands he has lost face, he will be intolerable. But surely he lies to himself.

Too bad Iran did not add to its terms for Trump’s ‘unconditional surrender’ that he had to abdicate his throne. For many of us, including Iran, that would be a win-win.
