The World Trade Center Twin Towers as they stood before the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attack. Two hijacked airliners flew into the towers in fiery crashes that brought the buildings down and killed nearly 2,800 people in and around the complex, which has since been rebuilt. The main building and four accompanying buildings are now known as One World Trade Center.
