Jennifer Lopez is being bandied about as a possible headliner for the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show, even though she’s twice the age of most NFL players. It wouldn’t be the first time the NFL picked geriatric acts for its premiere showcase.

Lopez, turned 50 in July and by all accounts is in tip-top shape. But she’s no where near her peak as a dancer, and could end up embarrassing herself on national television.

Madonna looked positively geriatric when she performed during her halftime show at Super Bowl XLVI in 2012. She was 53.

She sang her signature song “Vogue” at half speed compared with her 1990 video when the song was originally released. It went downhill from there.

She stumbled early trying to climb a bleacher, danced tentatively and looked like she was moving in slow motion when Nicki Minaj, MIA and a horde of “young” backup dancers took the stage.

The year before that, the NFL got about as brazenly young as it’s dared in recent years when it went with the Black Eyed Peas at halftime. Singer Stacey “Fergie” Ferguson, was no kid. She was 36 at the time.

Geriatric Super Bowl acts in the past have included ’60s era UK band The Who, which performed in 2010. Lead guitarist Pete Townsend and frontman Roger Daltrey were both 65 at the time.

Bruce Springsteen played the year before that and he was 59.

Other aging groups include The Rolling Stones, all in their 60s, Paul McCartney, also in his 60s and Prince, who was in his 50s.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers another ’60s era band played in 2008.

The last time anyone under 30 sang at the game, Justin Timberlake then in his 20s, was paired with 40-something Janet Jackson for the infamous “nipplegate” show in 2004.

More recently, Beyonce, Bruno Mars and Katy Perry have been far better choices. At least they represented the same generation as players when they performed at the signature event.

For her part, Lopez was coy about whether she’s getting the gig, although she’s geared up for it.

The ‘Second Act’ star was recently reported to be in talks to perform at the sporting extravaganza, which takes place in Miami,

“I know everybody’s asking me. They’re starting to think I’m telling people things, she told co-host Ryan Seacrest on “Live with Kelly and Ryan.”

“I don’t know anything yet!” she confessed. “It’s something that we’ve talked about for many years, and, you know, it would be nice. It would be nice. I can’t say I wouldn’t love it.”

Various sources told Us Weekly this week that the ‘Hustlers’ actress has held discussions with NFL bosses to make her dream gig come true.

Maroon 5 and Travis Scott performed a that 2019 event and Destiny’s Child reunited during Beyonce’s show in 2018.

Lopez shows off her superstar body in her new movie “Hustlers.”

It follows a group of strippers as they seek revenge on their Wall Street clients.

The reviews flew in after the movie’s premiere at Toronto Film Festival over the weekend.

The singer-and-actress admitted she was “crying” in bed reading them all with her closest friend.

“I was literally sitting in my bed yesterday and they were sending me all the reviews. I could not believe it.

“I was crying, me and my girlfriend of 20 years were sitting there and she was trying to film me. I was like, ‘Oh my God.'”
