Ben Stiller made history at the London premiere of his new movie “Zoolander 2,” by swinging the largest selfie stick in the world and taking a photo of stars Will Ferrell, Owen Wilson, Penelope Cruz, Christine Taylor, Kristen Wiig, Justin Theroux and supporting cast of fans.
The Guinness Book of World Records was on hand to document the feat and presented Stiller with a certificate, attesting to the new record.
It will be officially entered into the book. For the record, literally, the selfie stick was 28 feet long and it took Stiller every bit of muster to keep it in the air long enough to snap the photo.
The pole swayed precariously before he could get it in position to capture the crowd below. (See video!)
“This was much more dangerous than it looks,” Stiller Tweeted afterward.
“Zoolander 2” is all about posing for photos. The movie follows the antics of models Derek Zoolander (Stiller) and Hansel (Wilson). They must stop a conspiracy to kill the world’s most beautiful people.
The model victims all have Derek’s trademark Blue Steel look on their faces. So, Interpol recruits the two models to find out what’s going on.
Behind the evil plan, of course, is the fashion director from hell Jacobim Mugatu (Ferrell). He’s set free and is out to take his revenge against Derek and Hansel.
The cast has been touring in Europe to promote the film. It opens domestically on Feb. 12. Check out the video and photos below and be sure to follow IM on Twitter for the latest celebrity events.
