Bieber, 19, has been releasing songs as part of what he calls his #MusicMondays series.
His previous tracks, “Heartbreaker,” “All That Matters,” and “Hold Tight” are all pretty standard pop fare. But “Recovery” has more of an R&B and blues sound.
One thing his latest songs have in common is their theme; they all related to a relationship that has gone sour, regret and hopes of putting the pieced back together again.
In Recovery, Bieber sings about breaking a trust and praying for a recovery to make it right.
“Learned it don’t pay to lie
Cause i don’t wanna see you cry
Sayin nothin gets you nowhere fast
I’ma hold it back inside.”
The drum beat, the acoustic guitar and over-all pacing, however, recalls songs like “Fast Car,” “Revolution” and “For My Lover” from Chapman’s self-titled first album, released in 1987. The album went on to sell more than 19.7 million copies worldwide.
