Great morning to wake up to, no? Stunning to say the least.
The people have sent a powerful message to Donald Trump and Congress, and it is distrust and disdain.
(Editor’s note: After the midterm elections last night, Dems will control the House, 233 to 139, and the Senate by 54 to 44 and possibly more as late results come in)
Now, will Trump and the Senate force down on the nation a poison pill in the form of Justice Sammy Alito by getting him to resign from the Supreme Court, so Trump and the Senate can impose a new ‘’Alito’’ on this country by confirming the newbie before year end?
Surely they have a list of potential nominees. Ted Cruz? Nah, prestigious job but he doesn’t want to work that hard.
And, Trump is yapping to The Wall Street Journal about working with the Dems. This sort of move with two months to go might destroy those chances if he is being truthful.
And, he may be because in his mind he wants to avoid his own impeachment, and that of Heggie, Bobby and Blanche. Those hearing could be sooo embarrassing and rewrite the history of the Trump Administration.
Still, don’t count on him being cooperative. He said something similar at the Republican convention, and note where we are now. I don’t know if he even remembers what he said yesterday. He’s not all there.
How about hearings that nail down international crimes by Trump and Hegseth? They’ll need to be careful where they travel, should they be indicted by an international criminal court based on info developed by Congress.
Or, how about using that threat to avoid a Trump vetoes of bills that provide benefits to the poor, like food and medical care?
Finally, how many believe Netanyahu is jiggy with his military aid being cut off after this year? Is that a weak message sent to Iran in Trump’s effort to find a way out of his war? A non publicized demand by Iran not to support Israel?
Of course Israel needs American weapons and aid if its not to drop an H bomb on Iran if threatened.
Dems…don’t blow this. Americans want justice for prior acts and a return to democracy for the people.
