The song strikes a familiar theme for Swift, who happens to be 23. It’s about getting over a breakup.
The country-pop singer was accused of poking fun in the video at ex-boyfriend Harry Styles, from UK boy band One Direction. The tip off is the hat she wears. It’s just like the one Harry seems to favor in several paparazzi photos. A subtle reminder the song is about him?
Swift released the clip on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” this morning (Mar. 13). She added a video statement, revealing she is in Omaha, Nebraska, where she will kick off her Red Tour tonight.
“I can’t wait for you guys to see the show; I can’t wait to see you on the road, and since 13 is my lucky number, today also seems like the perfect day to release my brand new video for a song called ’22’,” she said.
The video, she reveals, was shot last month in Malibu. “I never had this much fun shooting a video because my friends in the video are actually my real life friends,” she adds.
The girls start out the video at what looks like a luncheon, complete with cake and punch. They goof around before heading to the beach for what looks like a pretty laid back day.
