    Schmigadoon! earned Outstanding Musical, while The Balusters took home Outstanding Play at the 79th Drama Desk awards at Town Hall in New York City.

    The awards celebrate the best of Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Off-Off-Broadway theater and serve as a run up to the Tony Awards.

    The Broadway revival of Ragtime at the Lincoln Center Theater topped all entries with five awards, among them  Outstanding Revival of a Musical.

    Death of a Salesman and Oedipus each scored four awards, followed by Mexodus with three awards.

    Ragtime actors Joshua Henry, Caissie Levy, and Ben Levi Ross, won acting honors while Lear deBessonet won for direction.

    John Lithgow (Giant) and Lesley Manville (Oedipus) also won acting honors.

    The ceremony reflected a season filled with both celebrated revivals and innovative new works, reinforcing the Drama Desk Awards’ reputation for honoring excellence across every level of New York City theater.

    The evening featured an impressive lineup of presenters, including Raúl Esparza, Norbert Leo Butz, BD Wong, Constance Wu, and Alex Brightman, among many others.

    Speeches throughout the night highlighted the collaborative spirit of theater and the resilience of the arts community.
