Mariah Carey, the newly minted “American Idol” judge, has not given up on her music career. She showed off her svelte post-baby body in a new video for her latest single “Triumphant.” It features heavyweight (literally) rapper Rick Ross.
Carey, who gave birth to twins Moroccan and Monroe last year in April, is back in bootylicious shape for the video, which has a boxing theme.
Mariah, 42, plays a front-row glamour girl sitting at money-man Rick Ross’s side and a stunning ring girl, who announces the rounds. Rapper Meek Mill plays a fighter and also raps on the track.
“Meek adds an excitement, a newness to the record that is pretty rare right now,” Carey told MTV News. “I’m a fan of his music. I really, really wanted to work with him.”
The single is Mariah’s first off her 14th studio album on Island Records. It likely will be released around Christmas time. Carey says “Triumphant” ts a tribute to husband, Nick Cannon, who was hospitalized with a rare kidney disorder earlier this year.
Cannon, who hosts television reality show, “America’s Got Talent,” in addition to other duties, directed the video.
Carey is also at work on a movie “The Butler,” about the life of White House butler Eugene Allen, who works for eight presidents, starting with Harry Truman in 1952 and ending in 1986 with Ronald Reagan.
