Pink, has always been known for her athletic performances, but she could have starred in Cirque du Soleil, with her soaring — literally — rendition of “Sober” at the Grammys Sunday night (Jan. 31).
She walked onto the stage through an electric blue passageway shrouded in a floor length, hooded, white robe.
Singing “Glitter in the Air” from her Funhouse album, she worked her way down the stage stairs and into the aisle.
Pink peeled off her robe and appeared to be dressed in the tiniest of string bodysuits. But flesh colored panels covered all of the girl parts, just in case of wardrobe malfunctions.
With dancers twisting above her under a blue canopy, Pink climbed into a white sheet and was lifted into the air. High above the stage, she spun slowly never missing a beat, singing the song.
Water from above showered her as she kept twirling slowly. She slipped out of the hammock style sheet in a series of acrobatic moves that ended in a crazy spin. She was slowly lowered to the stage to a standing ovation.
Her stunning aerial ballet was also featured at the MTV Video Music Awards last year and she also performed it during her recent tour.
Pink, aka Alecia Beth Moore, was nominated for two Grammys this year. In May 2009, Pink released a four-CD set of her albums Can’t Take Me Home / Missundaztood / Try This / I’m Not Dead. Her most recent album, Funhouse, her fifth studio album, was released in Oct. 2008.
