Pop punk singer Pink has popped. The new mom gave birth to daughter, Willow Sage Hart, yesterday (June 2) in Los Angeles. She made the announcement herself on Twitter.
“We are ecstatic to welcome our new beautiful healthy happy baby girl, Willow Sage Hart. She’s gorgeous, just like her daddy [Carey Hart].
The singer, real name Alecia Beth Moore, hinted that she was ready to give birth with a tweet Wednesday night (June 1) about how the astrological sky suggested it was a good time for new beginnings.
“New Moon in Gemini today 🙂 a good time to start something new…. Also called the Honey Moon. #intoit,” she wrote.
Pink first confirmed she was pregnant in November, but was superstitious about it and tried to keep it on the down low.
“I didn’t want to talk about it because I was just really nervous and I have had a miscarriage before,” she told Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show.
In recent days she’s been photographed with a huge baby bump, suggesting the birth was near.
“I have a life inside of me, and I want her or him to know that I will accept him or her with open and loving and welcoming arms,” she wrote on her Web site.
“And though I will prepare this little munchkin for a sometimes cruel world, I will also equip this kid to see all the beauty in it as well.”
Pink met Hart, a professional motocross racer at the 2001 X Games in Philadelphia, and a relationship blossomed.
Hart appeared in the video for her 2002 song “Just Like a Pill”.
Following a brief separation in 2003, Pink proposed to Hart in June 2005 during a Mammoth Lakes motocross race by holding up a “Will you marry me?” sign on his pit board.
They married in Costa Rica in January 2006.
The marriage has been rocky from the outset. The couple separated in 2008 and seemed headed for a divorce. But they went to marriage counseling and reconciled in 2009.
Pink confirmed that she and Hart were back together in February of last year
