  • Whitney Houston’s expansive New Jersey home is back on the market for a cut-rate $1.75 million. The palatial property is where she lived with singer Bobby Brown and was the setting for his reality television show.

The Mendham, NJ, home is within commuting distance to New York City. At more than 12,000-square feet, it would normally fetch substantially more money.

But it’s reported to be in a sad state of repair, and the depressed real estate market isn’t helping.

Houston tried to sell the home in 2009, two years after her marriage to Brown ended. But she got no takers at $2.5 million. She dropped the price to $1.97 million, but still no one was interested in the property. She took it off the market at the end of 2011, and re-listed it last month before her death Feb. 11.

The home is a contemporary design with an open floor plan. The house is situated on more than five acres and boasts five bedrooms and four and a half baths.

The interior looks like a cross between an airport terminal and a bank lobby. The living room has floor-to-ceiling windows, which may be problematic during cold New Jersey winters. It also has exposed brick wall, and the dining room that can seat 12 people for dinner. The kitchen is huge with a breakfast bar in the middle of the room.

A curved hallway shows off a stained glass wall feature, running alongside a red tiled floor, leading to a bathrooms with glass brick walls and a round bathtub.

The property is enclosed with a chain link fence and looks neglected with overgrown weeds, according to gossip site, radaronline.

Houston’s funeral will take place on Saturday (Feb. 18) in Newark, New Jersey.
