  • Ali1Promising teen artists (ages 15 to 18) from around the country will be in New York, Monday, Mar 15, to perform at the New York Songwriters Circle’s first ever “Young Artist Showcase.” Headlining the show will be hottest teen artist on the Internet, Ali Brustofski.

    The New York Songwriters Circle is giving talented teenagers the opportunity to perform on the brick-walled Bitter End Club stage where Norah Jones and Gavin DeGraw got their start. The showcase will begin at 8 p.m.; tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door.

    “All of these young performers are truly amazing in their own right,” said Tina Shafer, artistic director for the Songwriters Circle.

    “We hope this is the first of many young artist showcases where the next generation of artists can come and perform in a safe and nurturing environment, share their ideas, tell stories, laugh and most importantly create long lasting friendships,” she said.

    For more than 19 years, the Songwriters’ Circle has been producing and directing bimonthly shows at the legendary Bitter End, in New York City’s West Village.

    Brustofski is the 2009 New York Songwriters Circle Young “Young Artist” award winner. She will be joined on stage by teen artists Casey Cattie, Aubrey Caswell, Megan Trainor, Nick Tetrault and Clay Garner.

    The Songwriters Circle has played a role in launch the careers of such notable artists as  Jesse Harris, Lisa Loeb, Vanessa Carlton, Chris Barron and many more.
