The 2018 Nickelodeon Kids Choice music awards is shaping up to be a battle between the oldsters and the youngsters–relatively speaking. Beyonce, who is 36, is nominated for Favorite Female Artist along with singer Pink, the grand dame at 38. They’re going up against the younger kids, Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez.
The brat pack ranges in age from 25 (Gomez) to 33 (Perry). Lovato is also 25 and Swift is 28, a full 10 years younger than Pink.
Seems like they should have a cut-off age for these awards. But, hey, if the kids like ’em what can you do?
In the Favorite Male Artist category, Bruno Mars is going up against DJ Khaled, Ed Sheeran, Luis Fonsi, Kendrick Lamar and Shawn Mendes.
Khaled is the granddaddy at 42, Fonsi is 39, Mars is 32, Lamar is 30, Sheeran is 27 and Mendes is the baby of the group at 19, which finally seems age appropriate.
The kids–the true kids, that is– don’t show up until the Favorite Breakout Artist category.
Alessia Cara, aka Alessia Caracciolo is 21, Camila Cabello is 20, Cardi B, aka Belcalis Almanzar, is 25, Harry Styles, formerly of One Direction, is 24 and Noah Cyrus is the baby at 18.
Believe it or not, Khaled is also nominated in that category.
Oh well, as they say, age is just a number.
The 2018 Kids’ Choice Awards will take place on March 24 at the Forum in Inglewood, Calif. and will be broadcast live on Nickelodeon. John Cena returns as host.
Voting on music awards begins March 5 on the Nickelodeon Web site. Check out the full list of nominees below.
