Beyoncé is not ready to go quietly into that good night. At 39, she soared to the top of the 2021 Grammys, with a leading nine nominations, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year.
It looks like it could be the diva’s year… again.
Taylor Swift will give the R&B singer some competition. Swift scooped six nominations.
Her latest album, “Folklore,” was nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. The lead single “Cardigan” picked up nods for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Post Malone and Doja Cat also scored multiple nominations.
But Beyoncé will definitely be representing old-school R&B.
She’s up against a bunch of youngsters that include Eilish, still a teenager at 18, Lipa, 25, and Megan Thee Stallion, also 25.
Megan is up for Record of the Year for “Savages,” a song that, ironically, features Beyoncé.
The nominations were revealed Today (Nov. 24), and the awards ceremony will be held on Jan. 31.
Beyoncé’s song “Black Parade” will go head-to-head with “Savage” for Record of the Year.
The 39-year-old singer also has been nominated for Best R&B Performance, Best R&B song, Best Music Video and Best Music Film.
“Savage” picked up nods for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song.
Swift also landed a nod in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category with her track “Exile,” which featured Bon Iver
She was also nominated for Best Song Written For Visual Media category for her Cats track “Beautiful Ghosts.”
K-Pop megastars BTS have made history, yet again, for being the first Korean Pop group to be nominated for a major award. Their hit track “Dynamite” landed them a Best Pop Duo/Group Performance nod.
Here are the 2021 Grammy Award nominees in major categories.
