Gregg Allman and an eight-piece backing band brought his blues-infused rock to The Pearl concert theater at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas last night (June 21) and played a string of hits from the Allman Brothers band.
Gregg rocked out behind his organ to “Whipping Post,” “Don’t Keep Me Wonderin'” and classics like “Midnight Rider” and “Melissa.”
His solo hits included “I’m No Angel” and “Love Like Kerosene.”
Allman told the Las Vegas Review Herald that the horns were a recent addition to his band. “I love the sound we have now. The fans are going to have a good time, kick-ass night; that I’ll promise you,” he said before the show.
After his solo swing, Gregg is expected to rejoin and toour with the Allman Brothers Band. It may be the last road trip with long-time guitarists Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks, who have announced plans to leave the band.
