Perth, I’m so sorry, can you give me one minute? I’m just not feeling very well,” she said from the stage.
Lorde, like most pop stars, has been working almost non-stop while on tour, which includes traveling through several time zones.
Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and Lady Gaga have all suffered from illness or bouts of exhaustion on the road.
Lorde has been troubled by health problems since at least April. She was ordered by her doctor to rest, causing her to bail on the Australian leg of her tour the first time around.
Lorde pulled out of the Glastonbury Music Festival in Great Britain last week, purportedly to spend time resting and visiting with her family.
She spent at least part of that time working on new music.
The 17-year-old singer is reportedly under pressure to complete her second album to capitalize on the success of her debut studio LP Pure Heroine.
On top of all that, her Australian tour was rescheduled. She was just four tracks into her Perth concert when she stopped singing mid-song, according to local reports.
“I must have eaten something weird,” she said after vomiting on stage. “I’ve never had to do that. I love you and I’m so grateful to be here.”
Lorde returned to the stage some 40-minutes later, but could only make it through her hit song “Royals,” according to reports.
The singer has five more dates in Australia before she wraps her tour there.
