The weepy ballad was featured on her most recent album Demi, along with such hits as “Heart Attack,” “Made In The U.S.A.,” “Neon Lights,” and “Really Don’t Care.”
The moody black-and-white video opens with an airliner taking off and soaring over expansive landscape. The panoramic views from 35,000 feet seem to suggests the vastness and majesty of our world and the small space we occupy in it.
The drama and problems of life seem far less significant in comparison as a lone piano begins the tune.
“I can’t sleep tonight,
Wide awake and so confused.
Everything’s in line, but I am bruised
I need a voice to echo,
I need a light to take me home
I kinda need a hero, is it you?”
Demi’s mood is captured in the video with darkened images of her alone with her thoughts as she prepares for a show. After several crowd shots, the video cuts to her alone on a stage singing with a tear in her eye.
The video has a happy ending as Lovato falls into the arms of boyfriend Wilmer and they kiss passionately.
“Thank you all so much for the most amazing year yet! My Lovatics are truly the best. #Nightingale,” she wrote on Twitter, announcing the released of the Christmas Eve video.
