Charli XCX and Rita Ora take a road trip in Charli’s video for her song “Doing It.” They’re a modern day Thelma and Louise, except they seem to have more fun.

They go on a road trip through the American Southwest, hitting the honky tonks for shots and mechanical bull-riding.

They run into trouble with the law, but in this case the police are male strippers with nipple tassles. And they know how to swing them.

“I wanted it to be like this badass Barbie Thelma and Louise-esque video,” Charli XCX said in an interview.

“So we robbed a store with toy guns, rode a bucking bronco and nearly crashed a pink pick-up truck through the desert.”

For those who may not recall, “Thelma & Louise” was a 1991 drama starring Geena Davis as Thelma and Susan Sarandon as Louise. A hunky Brad Pitt also made his big-screen debut.

In any event, Thelma ditches her loutish husband and tbey go on a two-day road trip. But things take a turn for the worse.

They run into another lout at a bar who tries to rape Thelma. They get into an argument and as the man screams profanities at them, Louise shoots and kills him.

After that, they’re fugitives and lead the police on a cross-country chase.

In the video, it’s more like party in the USA for Charli and Rita as the bouncy dance tune plays out in the background.

The clip was directed by Adam Powell and produced by Nina Dluhy-Miller. Melinda Kelly is executive producer.
