Nick Jonas takes his heartbreak out on the housewares in the new video for his song “Chainsaw.” From smashing china to hacking up the sofa, it’s his way of expressing the loss. “I’ll burn everything that binds us,” he croons.

You would too if your girlfriend (in the video) was model Sara Sampaio, a Portuguese model best known for being a Victoria’s Secret Angel.

The video includes some pretty nifty pyrotechnics including a burning lake. It’s clearly a love-hate relationship. Jonas and Sampaio are featured alternatively fighting and making up in several scenes.

“I think the song ‘Chainsaw,’ people will see is incredibly vulnerable and personal,” he said during a recent interview during a Reddit “Ask Me Anything,” Q&A.

The song is off his upcoming album Last Year Was Complicated, due to be released in June. He’s released two other songs from the set, “Close” and “Champagne Problems,” last month.

He shed some light on his motivation in the Q&A:

“It’s about walking back to the house you shared a lot of memories in with somebody. All the feelings that come with that, and kind of working through some of it, and I think that everyone has something in their life that they need to let go of. ‘Chainsaw’ represents that way of letting go. And it’s actually been helpful for me, and hopefully will be helpful for other people.”

Jonas has a lot riding on his third studio album. He’s seeking to separate himself from his Boy band era with the Jonas Brothers and solidify his solo career. he spent more than a year and a half working on it.
