Meghan Trainor, who went from YouTube sensation to the top of the charts, released a full video today (Mar. 3) for her song “I’m a Lady.” She lends her vocals and the song to Sony’s latest animated Smurf movie, “Smurfs: The Lost Village”

“I’m a Lady,” is featured in a scene about girl-power.

The studio released a preview of the song with film footage last Friday and followed up today (Mar. 3) with the Trainor’s music video.

The song is pure pop with a rock and roll vibe. It’s billed as an anthem to female empowerment. She sings.

    “I talk with a mouthful,
    But I couldn’t be sweeter.
Yep I’m a cutie in my own way,
I won’t play follow the leader.”

“Thank you to my mama for helping me write this sassy/powerful song,” Trainor wrote on Instagram.

“She won’t admit it but she was by my side supporting me while I wrote it,” she added.

Trainor was a songwriter before she hit it big as performer. Her first major-label album, 2015’s Title debuted at No. 1 on the charts, thanks to three Top-10 singles “All About That Bass”, “Lips Are Movin” and “Like I’m Gonna Lose You.”

Trainor won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2016.

In the movie, Smurfette stars with her sassy friends Brainy, Clumsy and Hefty.

They venture into the Forbidden Forest to find a mysterious lost village. They’re in a race against the evil wizard Gargamel. Along the way, they encounter a host of magical creatures.

It’s a roller coaster journey full of action and danger, according to the movie synopsis. The Smurfs are on a course that leads to the discovery of the biggest secret in Smurf history.
