Macklemore and Kesha performed their duet “Good Old Days” live on Ellen for a show that airs today (Sept. 25). It was a victory lap for the embattled pop star, who has been locked in a bitter legal battle with her former producer, Dr. Luke, and his record label.
Kesha split the music industry when she became embroiled in a nasty legal fight three years ago.
The pressure led to a voluntarily stint in rehab for an eating disorder and other problems, a source told IM at the time. She’d been in open rebellion against him for a year over the direction of her music.
After a number of rounds in court, Kesha has been cleared to make music outside of her contract with Luke, real name Lukasz Gottwald.
Ellen is one of a number of celebrities who have been supporting her. So it comes as no surprise the duo appeared on her show. Kesha is listed as a featured singer on the tune.
Macklemore‘s solo debut album Gemini, was released on Friday.
Macklemore had previously teamed up with Ryan Lewis. They recorded two albums together.
Despite a long layoff, Kesha’s voice was strong and melodic.
