Katy Perry performed her new new single “California Gurls” live at the MTV Movie Awards Sunday (June 5). It’s her sexiest single yet and featured bikini-topped dancers.
Katy wore a weird Wonder Woman type outfit and rapper Snoop Dog makes an appearance toward the end of the song.
Snoop introduces the song in her new video, a sugary confection with Katy wearing delectable deserts on breasts. (see it below)
Katy said she was inspired to write a song about California after hearing Alicia Keys and Jay-Z’s tribute to New York in “Empire State of Mind.”
“I decided that we needed to make a response. I want people to want to book a ticket to California the first time they hear it,” she said.
Katy made a grand entrance riding a surfboard.
“I’m not really nervous. When I’m nervous, that means I’m not ready. I’ve already had my vocal lessons, I’ve warmed up, I’ve been silent for about three hours – and now, I am ready to kick a**,” she said.
“California Gurls” will be released as a single on June 20, with the album following on August 30.
