Taylor Momsen, the last unabashed rocker in music, put on a head-banging show at Revolution Live, in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla, backed by her band The Pretty Reckless. Call her the female Steven Tyler.
Momsen seems like she’s been around forever because of her run on the CW show “Gossip Girl” starting in 2007.
She was notorious for wearing revealing outfits and smoking cigarettes on the set in New York City when she was only 14. Even by then, though, she was a veteran actress.
She started appearing in commercials when she was two years old and for a time was a Disney teen queen. She even auditioned for the role of Hannah Montana, but was edged out by Miley Cyrus.
Momsen quit the show in 2011 to focus on music, and had a hard time establishing her credibility as a performer. Like many actresses who try to become musicians, she was derided as a poser.
But she developed her own hard rock style and stuck with it. She’s definitely a throwback. Taylor cites Kurt Cobain, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Pink Floyd, AC/DC and Garbage among her influences, according to reports.
Her sophomore album, Going to Hell, was released in March and debuted in the top 10 on album charts. Not bad for a rocker chick.
