New Zealand singing sensation Lorde has released her track from “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1” soundtrack, a haunting tune that’s designed to “get inside the head” of lead character Katniss Everdeen.

Lorde, real name Ella Yelich-O’Connor, released the song this morning (Sept. 29) on YouTube.

“It’s my first offering from what I hope will be a soundtrack you love. It’s my attempt at getting inside her head, Katniss,” she wrote on her Tumblr page. “I hope you like it.”

The song is meant to capture Katniss’s fortitude and strength. Here’s the opening stanza:

I’m a princess cut from marble, smoother than a storm
And the scars that mark my body
    they’re silver and gold.

If you like Lorde’s moody Goth style, yes, you’ll definitely like it. The song reflects the same dark style of her album Pure Heroine.

Lorde was tapped by over the summer to assemble the soundtrack album and was allowed tohand-pick the artists. Her song “Yellow Flicker Beat” is the lead single.

Lorde follows Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars, who contributed to the soundtrack for the first movie “The Hunger Games.”

The movie, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Liam Hemsworth , Elizabeth Banks and Donald Sutherland, opens in the United States on Nov. 14.
