King, the son of a Mississippi sharecropper and early gospel singer who picked up a guitar at 15 and spread Mississippi delta blues world wide over his long career, has died from an illness related to diabetes. He was 89. From his humble beginnings he helped revolutionize music with his soulful singing and guitar picking. Alvin Lee, '60s Guitar Virtuoso of Woodstock, Ten Years After, Dies

Alvin Lee, who was a guitar virtuoso by the age of 13 and rode the British invasion during the 1960s with the band Ten Years After, has died from complications arising from surgery. He was 68. Lee may not have been as popular as contemporaries like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page, but his skill on the guitar ranks him among the era’s guitar gods....

Led Zeppelin Kennedy Center Fete Rock Moment of Year (watch!)

Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson, better known as the duo “Heart” gave the rock performance of the year in my opinion during the Kennedy Center Honors for seminal rock band Led Zeppelin. Their rendition of “Stairway To Heaven,” with full orchestration and chorus moved Robert Plant to tears. It’s been a long time coming for the band, and for rock music.
