Carrie Underwood wowed on American Idol singing her new song ‘See You Again.’

Carrie Underwood, one of “American Idol’s” true success stories, made a somewhat emotional return to the show last night (Apr. 4) and performed her new single, “See You Again.” Ah… those were the days.

Underwood, 30, was a season four contestant who went on to win the Idol crown in 2005. Since then, she’s matured into a country music megastar.

She had everything the show was hoping for in contestants; sensational looks, solid vocals and a backstory that melted your heart. She was born in Muskogee, Oka. and raised on her parents’ farm in the rural town of Checotah, Oka. Until the show, she’d never been to a big city or even flown in a plane.

The transformation to mega country star has been huge. She’s a polished professional and true superstar. Among her accolades, the multi-platinum recording artist (15 million albums sold) has won six Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards and 10 Academy of Country Music Awards as well as a Golden Globe.

Update: Burnell Taylor Exits, Lazaro Arbos Rises on American Idol

Despite all her success she gave the show its props. “Of course I have such love for this show; I’m gonna cry!” she said after performing.
