Donald Trump’s decision to suddenly fire FBI Director James Comey looks like an effort to stymie the investigation of his campaign’s alleged collusion with Russia during the 2016 election. But Steven Colbert had another word for it… “Nazi”

“Firing James Comey really feels like authoritarianism 101. Which, by the way, is a very difficult class; the professor is a total Nazi,” he said in his opening monologue.

Colbert’s astute and hilarious commentaries on the Trump administration has vaulted him to No. 1 in the late night ratings, supplanting long-time leader Jimmy Fallon.

His humor has become like a national relief valve in very uncertain and angst-filled times.

Following the news FBI director James Comey had been fired by Donald Trump, late night hosts lambasted the President, likening him to a dictator.

“We have reached a milestone as a nation,” he told viewers opening his bit.

“We have a President who truly doesn’t care what anything looks like. Which is surprising for a guy whose actual face we’ve never seen.”
