Glee’s Sue Sylvester went where only gay transvestite impersonators usually go — imitating Madonna in her famous 1990 Vogue music video. She did it as “Glee” kicked off its second season Tuesday night (Apr. 13). How do you think it compares with the real thing?
The nasty coach’s version of Madonna’s “Vogue” promoted next week’s Madonna tribute episode. Actress Jane Lynch sported bleached blonde curls and handfuls of diamonds.
Her video was also shot in black and white just like Madonna’s, which paid homage to Hollywood. Watch closely and see Kurt and Mercedes mixing it up with the back-up singers.
In another Glee twist, Sue takes a swipe at rival, Will Schuester, natch.
“Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire. Sue Sylvester, dance on air … Lauren, Katherine, Lana too. Will Schuester, I hate you,” she sings with jaded edge.
While the video was meant as a tribute, Madonna reportedly was not too thrilled about it.
“Madonna doesn’t have a TV and has no idea what ‘Glee’ is,” a source close to the Material Girl told gossip web site PopEater. Ha! Believe that?
“The show did ask her if she wanted to make an appearance in the much-hyped Madonna episode. She said ‘no thanks’ and, to be honest, she would rather they sing an Elton John song than butcher one of hers.”
Ouch!
