Ivanka Trump is thought to be a moderating force on dad Donald, but John Oliver’s takedown of her and husband Jared Kushner on HBO’s “Last Week Tonight” was so scorching it could have set her hair on fire.

Oliver has been on the Ivanka and Jared beat for some time now. Last year, he deconstructed their modus operandi in a telling commentary that’s been viewed on YouTube more than 15 million times.

That’s far from his last word on the dynamic duo. But one thing has changed. Oliver has gone from mildly disapproving to full-on outrage over their shenanigans.

The latest impetus was a report in The New York Times about the way Donald Trump gamed the national security apparatus to get a security clearance for his favorite son-in-law and daughter.

Of course, Trump and Ivanka repeatedly denied strings were pulled. But her and Jared’s lives are all about strings.

“I honestly don’t know what’s sadder there: Either Ivanka is knowingly lying about her Dad forcing her and Jared’s security clearance through, or she genuinely thinks they got it on merits on their own,” he said.

Kushner is the Trump administration’s jack-of-all-trades, master of the universe on almost all major government initiatives, from peace in the Middle East, tech innovation and veterans’ affairs to the opioid crisis and myriad other things.

With so many serious issues weighing on him, Oliver shockingly noted that Jared looks like he never misses a night of beauty sleep.

“How the fuck does he look so well-rested? This is a guy who’s not just brokering peace in the Middle East, he’s tackling the opioid crisis, and national infrastructure as the head of the office of American innovation, while constantly traveling halfway around the world, and doing it all while navigating the psycho-sexual Stalingrad that is marriage to Donald Trump’s daughter. Where are the bags under his eyes? How is his skin so smooth?”

Ivanka is officially special assistant to the president, who supposedly whispers words of caution in the president’s ear.

Yet, despite all the hype, neither Ivanka or Jared are the brightest light bulbs in the pack.

Sure, Jared went to Harvard, but only after his father pledged $2.5 million to the school. His grades and SAT scores alone wouldn’t have gotten him the time of day, according to a book examining how the privileged game university admissions.

He owes his business career to his father, who built a real estate empire before he went to jail for fraud and handed the company to his son.

Ivanka’s resume is equally flawed. All of her accomplishments are due directly to daddy.

“You only became an executive vice president of the Trump Organization at 24 because you’re Donald Trump’s daughter, not because you were a 24-year-old business prodigy; you got a book deal because you’re Donald Trump’s daughter, not because you are a brilliant author and wordsmith,” he asserted.

“And, you only hosted the ‘Miss Teen USA’ pageant because your dad owned the contest, not because of your sparkling on-camera presence.”

    “Oh, please,” Oliver said.

Trump has often talked about daughter Ivanka in unseemly and borderline inappropriate sexual terms, according to an insider account of the White House by former aide and “Apprentice” contestant Omarosa Manigault Newman.

Omarosa details her observations of the father/daughter relationship in her new book, “Unhinged.”

    Even Oliver couldn’t avoid it.

In a telling interview, Trump was asked what he and Ivanka had in common. “Well I was gonna say sex, but I can’t relate that to her,” he replied with an impish shrug.

“What is wrong with you, you colossal fucking creep,” Oliver exclaimed. “You found the only possible wrong answer to that question. What’s you’re favorite color, Hitler?”

Ivanka, on the other hand, never went off-message when asked the same question. “Real estate, or golf,” she replied, which happens to be the Trump brand.

But the point Oliver was trying to make is how little the public really knows about Ivanka and Jared in contrast to their over-sized influence over our lives.
