  • Carrie Underwood is singing the boyfriend blues on her uptempo single “Good Girls,” off her forthcoming album, which she has yet to name. The hard-driving song is a warning to all good girls; watch out for that bad boy.

While the tune doesn’t quite qualify as a cross-over, it’s got a rock-pop beat and definitely a pop theme with just a hint of country, mainly the twang in Underwood’s voice.

The song follows “Undo It,” also an uptempo tune. Underwood is teasing an edgier sound along with her ramped up sexiness.

Underwood penned the track with Ashley Gorley and Chris DeStefano. She showcased the song at the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville last night (Feb. 23). Radio still makes records and big name artists have traditionally appeared at this radio fest, hoping for airplay.

It’s a little hard to conceive Underwood singing about bad boy lovers. She’s basically had a fairy tale romance and marriage. She tied the knot with pro hockey player Mike Fisher last year and her biggest complaint so far is that he’s well, messy.

“Well, we started out you know we got married. He went back to Canada. I went back to Nashville… then he got traded to Nashville,” she said. “He came and he brought all of his crap with him. Our house became… he’s not a hoarder but he’s close, maybe.”

That’s real pain. Still Underwood could still be singing from a big sister perspective. The “American Idol” winner sings:

    Hey good girl
With your head in the clouds
I bet you I can tell you what you’re thinking about
    You’ll see a good boy
    Gonna give you the world
But he’s gonna leave you crying
with your heart in the dirt
    His lips are dropping honey
But he’ll sting you like a bee
So lock up all your lovin’
Go and throw away the key

Her last album debuted almost three years ago, so some are calling her fourth studio album a comeback. The album will debut exclusively on iTunes, May 1. Pre-sales have already pushed it into the Top 10.
