Taylor Swift jetted to Paris, France, to find just the right romantic backdrop for a new video featuring her song “Begin Again,” which was almost certainly inspired by her breakup with actor Jake Gyllenhaal. The song was the second released off her new album Red.
The haunting ballad is about someone who just doesn’t seem to measure up in so many ways to her boyfriend’s expectations.
But while she laments one love lost, she finds another over baguettes in a small Parisian cafe. The video includes some of the “City of Light’s” most memorable landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower and the scenic overlooks of the Seine River.
“It kind of signifies the intense, really bold emotions you feel when you’re in kind of mad love,” she told MTV News.
“There are 16 songs on the album and every single one of them is about some sort of intense emotion that I felt,” she added.
The album was released on Monday (Oct. 22) and shot straight to No. 1 on the pop charts.
