After a privileged upbringing brushing shoulders with British royalty, Cara Delevingne shot to fame as a model at 17, but her love affair with clothes has taken a back seat to making movies, and, well… being naked.

“I like clothes, just not all the time. I prefer to be naked – what can I say?” she says.

The ‘Suicide Squad’ star insisted she has always thought of herself as an actress rather than a model. She’s far from the first actress to make the transition.

Most notably, Cameron Diaz, Charlize Theron, Katherine Heigl and Jennifer Lawrence, although she was a struggling actress at the time.

Even actors like Twilight star Kellan Lutz, Ashton Kutcher and Josh Duhamel graced magazine pages before their acting careers took off.

Delevingne, 27, gained such notoriety as a model, the transition has been a little more difficult; plus she’s still polishing her acting skills. But she says acting was always in the back of her mind.

“As a kid, I saw myself as an actress. I was such a little drama queen, always running around. Even before I began acting, I was so ready to do that,” she says.

Cara is also well known for her voracious dating habits. She’s been linked to Rihanna, Georgia May Jagger (Mick’s kid) and celebrities. Her rumored sexual conquests include Michelle Rodriguez, Rihanna, singer St. Vincent, Selena Gomez and Dakota Johnson, among others.

More recently, she’s been in a steady relationship with actress Ashley Benson of “Spring Breakers” fame.

But she was too controversial to net an invite to Prince Harry’s wedding.

She says she’s found it tough having to be more “vulnerable” on film. She also thinks it has been the “best gift” to her to have to do that.

“On every film I learn so much and learn how much more I have to learn. In life I find it hard to be vulnerable. We all have a certain amount of armor that we wear walking around in life.

“I know I’ve had to do that a lot, so to be very vulnerable in front of people has been quite tough. That’s why I love film, because it’s about being more open with myself emotionally, and that’s the best gift ever.”

The “Paper Towns” actress hopes she can “make a difference” for young people and wants to be a good role model.

“I’m lucky, because there are so many people I want to help, especially kids and generations to come. I really want to make a difference and be a good role model.

“I want to be a girl that girls can look up to. Because when I was younger there weren’t enough strong women,” she says.

She’s the granddaughter of Sir Jocelyn Stevens, who once ruled over all of England’s historic monuments as the chairman of English Heritage, which is short for Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England.

Stevens’ daughter, Pandora, married wealthy real estate developer Charles Delevingne and had four children. Cara is the youngest.

Older sister Poppy Delevingne is also a well known UK model. But Cara wanted more than endless parties, fashion shoots and tabloid headlines. She wanted to be taken seriously on her own terms.
