Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the newly elected congresswoman from Queens, began making the rounds on on late night talk shows and provided a glimpse of her infectious charisma and command of issues on the “Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

Colbert opened the segment by playing off a photo Ocasio-Cortez posted on Instagram curled up with a pint of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream after a hard day at the office.

“Spoiler Alert: Congress is just like any other job where you have your long and tiring days and just want to eat ice cream at the end of it,” she wrote in a caption.

Aside from the cute factor, it was a deft political move. Since her election, right-wing propaganda outlets like Fox News have been trying to demonize her because she is a “Democratic Socialist.”

She’s rebuffed their criticism at every turn with aplomb and last night was no different. She not only proved she did not possess horns–or fangs–but cleared up distortions about her views on–of all things–marginal tax rates.

But the first order of business was ice cream.

Colbert broke out two spoons and two pints of Ben & Jerry’s “Americone Dream.” It’s vanilla ice cream with fudge-covered waffle cone pieces and caramel swirls.

Colbert revealed proceeds from the sale of the brand will go to food and medical assistance for disadvantaged children, veterans and their families and environmental causes.

It wasn’t all about ice cream, however.

“I want to ask this question in a respectful manner, knowing also that you’re from Queens, so you will understand this question,” Colbert intoned.

“And the BX,” Ocasio-Cortez quickly interjected, a short-hand reference to the Bronx, part of which is also in her district.

“On a scale from zero to some, how many fucks do you give” about advice from House Democratic leaders not to make waves? he asked.

Ocasio-Cortez turned as if to reach into her pocket and pulled out her hand making a circle with her fingers. “I think it’s zero,” she laughed.

Ocasio-Cortez gave right-wing pundits conniptions by proposing a 70 percent marginal tax rate on incomes above $10 million a year. Fox News talking heads even tried to argue that it would hurt the middle class.

Of course, nothing could be further from the truth. The tax would only apply to each dollar over $10 million in earned income, clearly affecting the richest 1 percent of the nation.

The tax rate is nothing new. It was even higher during the Republican Eisenhower administration in the 1950s.

President Trump’s signature achievement has been to cut taxes for corporations and wealthy, even though it’s caused the nation’s deficit to soar.

Trump and Republicans promised in influx of hiring, capital investment and economic growth that has largely failed to materialize.

Earlier in the day, Ocasio-Cortez raised alarm about global warming. It came during an interview to mark Martin Luthur King Jr’s birthday .

Millennials view climate change as “our World War II,” she said. She expressed fear the world will end in “12 years” without change.

“I do think a system that allows billionaires to exist when there are parts of Alabama where people are still getting ringworm because they don’t have access to public health is wrong,” she added.

“I think that it’s wrong that a vast majority of the country does not make a living great wage.”

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defeated incumbent Joe Crowley in a Democratic primary upset for the 14th Congressional District, which takes up parts of Queens and the Bronx. At 28, she’s the youngest person ever elected to Congress.

She’s amassed more than 2.5 million followers on Twitter while attracting huge audiences of Instagram, where she posts cooking photos.
