More than an estimated 18,000 fans overwhelmed Rockefeller Center in New York City when they appeared on the “Today” show. It was reportedly the largest crowd ever to assemble for one of the show’s “Summer Concert Series,” according to weatherman Al Roker.
The story was no different on “America’s Got Talent.” Fans packed the studio and went wild when the boys hit the stage. Everyone seemed to know the words of their song.
Music mogul Simon Cowell created the band out of rejects from his UK talent show “The X Factor.” They debuted in the United States in March 2012 on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “Today.”
Is One Direction Becoming the Band Everyone Loves to Hate?
They exploded on the music scene since, selling more than 15 million albums, singles, and videos worldwide. Styles brief fling with country queen Taylor Swift has kept them in the tabloid headlines.
At the MTV Video Music Awards last weekend, Swift kept up the heat when she made an obvious blind reference to her soured relationship with Styles. Oddly, the audience booed when the band won best song of the summer for “Best Song Ever.”
