Her musical career has remained surprisingly resilient, despite enduring criticism early on in Australia that she was a “manufactured” pop singer.
That’s because Minogue get her start in television as a child actress and was best known down under for her role in the television soap opera “Neighbours.”
She launched her singing career in 1987 when she was 19 and it didn’t take her long to establish credibility as a performing artist. Her first single, “The Loco-Motion,” topped the Australian singles chart for seven weeks and became the highest-selling single of the decade.

She has since gone on to sell more than 68 million records and won a Grammy in 2004 for best dance record, beating out Madonna and Cher.
Kylie suffered a major setback in 2005 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent surgery and chemotherapy and hasn’t looked back. She released a single the same year.
Minogue parted ways with her long-time manager Terry Blamey in January and quickly signed a new management deal with rapper Jay-Z’s Roc Nation.
She’s working on her 12th studio album for the label, according to TheImproper, and recently wrapped up filming the third series of BBC One’s “The Voice UK” where she’s a coach.
For her German GQ shoot, Kylie posed in cut-away dresses and lingerie-inspired designs that evoked the Golden Age of radio in the 1940s, when glamorous women sang jazz in smoky clubs, according to the photos obtained by TheImproper.
Photographer Ellen von Unwerth helmed the shoot. Check out Kylie’s photos and be sure to follow TheImproper on Twitter for the latest music news.
