Singer Ricky Martin, newly out of the closet and reveling in his newfound openness about his sexuality, set off Internet alarms when he Tweeted about a video that was widely thought to be new.
The video was actually used as a promotion for a tour that took place several years ago, but it seemed to capture the essence of Martin’s sexual liberation as a gay man.
Martin came out of the closet last month. “I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am,” he said in a statement finally revealing one of the worst kept secrets in music.
The video “My Skin Talks,” is a wordless two-minute video to promote his Black & White tour.
It’s filled with haunting music, minimalist imagery and Martin writhing about sans clothes. Fortunately well-places shadows shield his private parts.
The singer assiduously hid his sexuality early in his career, when he was a member of the Latin boy band Menudo.
But once he went solo 1991 and broke through with his first album in English, which contained the hit “Livin’ the Vida Loca”
his sexuality became increasingly evident.
He seemed to be much more open in his mannerisms and choice of partners as his career blossomed, but he never explicitly acknowledged being gay until now. His female fans were legion, as were his gay fans.

A few years ago, he was photographed on the beach frolicking in a tight speedo bathing suit with a male companion.
Martin had twin sons, Valentino and Matteo, via a surrogate in 2008 and has dropped out of the limelight to be a dad.
Ironically, Martin grew up in a Catholic home and was an altar boy until he joined Menudo. The Catholic church harshly condemns homosexuality.
In fact, Martin professed his love for Mexican TV hostess Rebecca de Alba, and the two shared an off-and-on-again relationship for more than 14 years.
But judging form this video, Martin was never in denial in his own mind.
