  • AvrilLavigne“Alice in Wonderland” claimed a $116.3 million opening weekend box office, topping 3-D fantasy, sci-fi flick “Avatar” in both IMAX ticket sales and overall weekend sales. Now can it do the same for music?

Tim Burton’s fanciful film is matching its release, with the debut of the movie’s hot soundtrack, aptly titled Almost Alice. It features 15 new songs.

Providing the music are Robert Smith of The Cure, Avril Lavigne, The All-American Rejects, Owl City, Franz Ferdinand, Wolfmother, Mark Hoppus and Pete Wentz.

Also available is Alice in Wonderland, the original soundtrack, by Burton’s longtime collaborator, composer Danny Elfman.

Pop-punk rules the album. Aside from the Hoppus-Wentz collaboration, All Time Low, 3OH!3 and Metro Station, also make bows. The soundtrack’s also sports tracks from Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.

Smith is solo on the album with a remake of “Very Good Advice.”

A video for the soundtrack’s first single, Lavigne’s “Alice (Underground)”, came out last month. Almost Alice hit stores on March 2nd.
