Nick Jonas picks Miami’s famed Wynwood Walls graffiti and street art center as the scene for a remake of a video for his song “Chains.” It has a Mardi Gras vibe, but oddly, Nick looks wildly out of place.

While he’s surrounded by scantily clad partygoers in wild costumes, dancing in an urban street scene, Nick looks like he’s decked out in J Crew.

At the very end of the video, he’s finally in party gear smeared with paint. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves.

The song is the lead single from his eponymous second album, released in July last year. It’s basically an R&B tune with a heavy bass line about being trapped in a hopeless love that he can’t kick.

Critics praised it as one of Nick’s first adult songs. It’s also a departure from the bouncy pop tunes of the Jonas Brothers.

The original video, directed by Ryan Pallotta, was released the same month as the album. Shot in black-and-white, it’s set mostly in a studio and focuses on Nick singing in a wife beater shirt.

(Footnote: Dylan Penn, daughter of Sean Penn, appears in it.)

The “Wynwood Walls Edition” is lighter, shot in full-color and elaborately staged. It has a sort of good boy goes bad for a night feel. He cruises through the party in some tricked out golf cart while the action takes place around him.
