The band, known for its elaborate stage production and lush, multi-layered sound is undergoing a resurgence thanks largely to Cyrus.
The song is included on the Lips’ new album With a Little Help From My Fwends, a tribute to Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. the Beatles’ classic 1967 rock album is considered one of the best ever recorded.
Miley and Coyne have been paling around for most of the year. She collaborated on another Beatles cover, “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds,” from his album.
He also helped her through her crisis over the death of her dog Floyd. Coyne designed a tattoo they share in the pooch’s honor. It’s a drawing of Floyd encircled by the Lips’ album title.
Coyne is making the rounds to promote the new album, and Miley was a surprise addition on the show.
Miley has been enamored with the ’60s counterculture and classic rock. Although an ’80s band, The Flaming Lips may be the last true embodiment of that sound.
