McCartney also played up his New Jersey roots, namely wife Nancy Shevell, who was born and raised in The Garden State.
He dedicated his tender hit “My Valentine,” to her and shouted out to family members in the audience. “Feels like home,” he said.
McCartney was his jocular self on stage, joking with the audience and recalling anecdotes from his career between songs, which came almost non-stop.
Sir Paul noted that he even had a hand in thawing the Cold War. He played the Beatles hit “Back in the U.S.S.R” and recalled how he was the first rocker to play the Kremlin.
“They said we learned how to speak English by listening to Beatles records,” McCartney said, even if it was only “Hello, goodbye.”

McCartney even dipped into the catalogue of his pre-Beatles tunes from his band, “The Quarrymen,” with John Lennon, playing a country-rock infused tune “In Spite of All the Danger.”
But his Beatles songs, like “Hey Jude” and “Love Me Do,” and hits from his Wings days, like classic “Band on the Run,” produced the loudest cheers. His moving song “Let It Be,” brought the crowd to its feet in a sea of illuminated cell phones.
The ex-Beatle is on the road with his One on One Tour. He’s backed by Abe Laboriel Jr. on drums, Rusty Anderson on guitar; Paul “Wix” Wickens on keyboards and Brian RaySure on bass, according to The Asbury Park Press.
The show next moves to the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., tonight (Aug 10). Then the tour heads to the midwest for stops in St. Louis, Grand Rapids, Mich., and two shows in Cleveland before taking a break until October.
