Play Dead the Off-Broadway comic thriller co-written and directed by Teller, of Penn & Teller fame, and co-written and performed by Todd Robbins, will close its current run in New York City on Sunday, July 24 at 7pm.
The Wall Street Journal called the show “sensationally entertaining” and the New York Times described it as a “wild, wicked show.”
The show opened Oct. 21, 2010 at The Players Theater and will run for its final five weeks beginning Tuesday, June 21. It’s been described as part retro spook-show, part thrill-ride and all fun, with stunning magic and amazing illusions.
Robbins draws audiences into an unknown haunted world full of frightful surprises and diabolical laughter.
He’s best known for his show Dark Deceptions at the New York International Fringe Festival.
Recently he presented The Charlatan’s Séance at the Two River Theatre Company in Red Bank, NJ.
And this past April, he conducted a séance at the Mark Twain House in Hartford, CT on the hundredth anniversary of the author’s death.
Todd has been seen on more than 100 TV shows including the late night talkfests of David Letterman, Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien and the NBC special, “Extreme Variety.”
Todd created the award-winning Off-Broadway show, Carnival Knowledge, is one of the producers of New York’s longest running magic show, Monday Night Magic.
He is also a partner in the parent company, Magical Night Inc., which supplies magical entertainment for corporate and private events.
The company also produces Magical Nights at Feinstein’s every Sunday at the Loews Regency Hotel in New York City. Additionally Robbins has been the host of the “Ripley’s Live!” stage show.
The cast includes Geri Berman, Charlotte Pines, Drea Lorraine, April Andres, Don Meehan and Brianna Hurley.
The show is produced by Alan Schuster, Cheryl Wiesenfeld, Pat Blake, Frank and Jono Gero, and Ethan Silverman.
