Model Jerry Hall, ex-wife of Rolling Stone Mick Jagger, plans to auction 14 of her artworks next month, including a famous portrait by Lucian Freud that shows her nude when she was eight months pregnant.
The auction by Sotheby’s will also include works by Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, David Bailey and other prominent artists collected by Hall, who has entered 14 lots in the sale to coincide with the Frieze Art Fair.
The auction house said Monday the works will be sold on Oct. 15-16 as part of a larger contemporary art sale.
Sotheby’s says the Lucian Freud portrait called “Eight Months Gone” is the centerpiece of the auction and is expected to fetch more than 300,000 pounds ($460,000).
“It’s about letting go of the past,’’ Hall, 54, said in an e-mailed statement. “At a certain age, you just want to get rid of things. It’s good to be in the moment and change.”
The collection also includes two other works by Freud, often acclaimed as one of the world’s greatest living painters.
An Andy Warhol acrylic and silkscreen ink on canvas “Dollar Sign’’ that was given and dedicated to Hall by the artist in 1982 is expected to fetch as much as 150,000 pounds ($225,000).
David Manners, 51, the 11th Duke of Rutland, is offering a painting by the 17th-century French artist Nicolas Poussin.
The work is expected to fetch as much as 20 million pounds ($31 million) at a Christie’s International auction in December, the company said in an e-mail today.
