  • Bruce Springsteen, Christina Aguilera, Billy Joel, Sting and Jon Bon Jovi are among the headliners who have signed up to perform in a special one-hour broadcast to help raise money for the Red Cross on behalf of Hurricane Sandy victims.

The special, which will air on NBC and Bravo and USA cable networks was announced today by NBCUniversal.

The “Today Show’s” Matt Lauer will host the telethon, titled “Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together,” and late-night talk show host Jimmy Fallon will also appear.

The show will air Friday (Oct 2) from 8 to 9 p.m, also on NBCU channels E!, CNBC, MSNBC, Style, Syfy and G4, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The special will be broadcast live from NBC’s 30 Rock studios in New York and live-streamed on NBC.com.

Donations will go toward The American Red Cross’s Sandy relief efforts.

The hurricane devastated coastal areas of New Jersey, New York and New England, leaving more than 40 people dead and billions of dollars in property damage. New York City was particularly hard hit.
