Canadian singer Avril Lavigne is eating humble pie for her curse-filled rant during a performance at a Tampa Bay Rays baseball game over the weekend.
More than 24,000 people at the post-game concert heard her and many booed after Lavigne cursed about problems with a faulty microphone, shouting “sound problems f***ing happen on a baseball field.”
But she was nothing if not contrite the next day.
“We just had so much fun tonight and we want to take the tirade out and say thank you to the Tampa Bay Rays,” she told the crowd.
“I’m truly sorry if anyone was offended by my language,” she added.
Many were, including The Rays team. It issue a statement condemning the incident.
“The Rays demand profanity-free performances from all of our concert performers and we are extremely disappointed by the language used in last night’s show,” it said.
Lavigne’s life has become a bit unraveled since she split with ex-husband Deryck Whibley.
They have put their 12,184 square-foot eight-bedroom LA home on the market for $9.5million
They split in Sept. 2009 with their divorce was finalized in Nov. 2010.
Since the split, Lavigne has been dating former The Hills star Brody Jenner, a stepbrother of the Kardashian sisters.
Lavigne’s most recent album, which is a departure from her harder rock style, has not sold well.
