The pre-teen prodigy, who turned 11 following her audition for the show in June, is competing in the semifinals of the competition at the famed Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
The 24 semfinal acts will be pared down to 12 for the final round. Anna Christine, who was born in Las Vegas, first exhibited her musical talent at the age of five. By the time she was eight, she had developed a soulful voice that has an unusual resonance for someone her age, not to mention near perfect pitch.
On the show she’s become known for her hauntingly beautiful melodies and undertones. Her performance Tuesday (Sept 3) was no different. She wowed the judges.
“It is amazing… There’s no other way to describe your voice,” said judge Howie Mandel.
“Eleven years old! I cannot even begin to fathom this,” added Judge Howard Stern, who predicted she’d make the finals. “You are fantastic.”
Despite her incredible poise and natural ability, Christine admitted to a case of nerves when she played Radio City Music Hall for the first time.
“I’m 11-years-old and I’m really short and Radio City is huge,” she said in a pre-performance interview. “It’s pretty scary.”
“I kinda got off time and that’s when I started to get nervous. “And, I actually did contemplate crying and just running off the stage. But I didn’t”
