Swift released the only platinum-selling album this year as the music industry continues to struggle with declining sales.
“Blank Space” is the follow-up single from the album to “Shake It Off,” which was No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for four weeks.
Swift is the only artist in history to have three million-selling debut albums, 2010’s Speak Now, 2012’s Red and now 1989.
The seven-time Grammy Award winner has been making the rounds promoting her album. She gave her debut performance at the American Music Awards last Sunday. She dazzled in a daring gown that bared her midriff on the red carpet, before changing to perform.
The song plays off her tabloid image as a serial dater, which she mocks.
