BTS, the k-pop boy band from South Korea that’s become a worldwide phenomenon, took over New York City’s Grand Central Station for a stunning performance of their song “On.”

The choreography was as grand as the setting.

BTS (Korean: 방탄소년단; RR: Bangtan Sonyeondan) are also known as the Bangtan Boys. Believe it or not, the seven-member South Korean boy band has been around for a decade. They formed in 2010 in Seoul.

The name literally translated means “Bulletproof Boy Scouts.”

While the group is know for its dance routines, their music also touches on social themes, like mental health and the pains of growing up. Their work features references to literature and psychological concepts and includes an alternative universe storyline.

Their album, Map of the Soul: Persona is the best-selling in South Korean history, and they were the second best-selling artists of 2018 worldwide according to the IFPI’s Global Artist Chart.

The group has also been recognized in the United States. It won Top Social Artist three years in a row and Top Duo/Group at the 26th Billboard Music Awards.

BTS released an original eight-episode documentary series exclusively on YouTube Premium entitled “Burn the Stage,” detailing behind-the-scenes action during the group’s 2017 Wings Tour.

The group’s fourth Korean-language studio album, Map of the Soul: 7, was released last week (Feb. 21). It followed the release last month of two singles and a video for the album featuring Suga’s solo track “Interlude: Shadow.”
