  • Katy Perry’s life was whipped cream and cherries until her marriage to Russell Brand went sour and ended in divorce. Now fame tastes bittersweet.

Katy sounded off about her music her upcoming 3D film and her desire to pursue a film career in a new interview with Teen Vogue magazine.

Her comments were eye-opening about fame. And, she’s obviously thought about it a lot. “I’m tired of being famous already!” she says. “But I’m not tired of creating.

“Fame is, I think, just a disgusting by-product of what I do.

“It’s quite a delicate creature— it’s a wild animal of sorts. It can love you, and then it can attack you,” she explains.

“I still want to be as approachable and relatable as possible—when I meet fans and they’re crying, I’ll say, ‘Calm down, there’s nothing to cry about. I’m not going to bite you or attack you, or grant you three wishes. Let’s just hang out and have a good time.’

“But really, I stopped focusing on what other people think a while ago. If you try to be everything to everyone, you’ll only end up completely confused,” she said.

Katy also is more philosophical about her career, unlike early on. She struggled and was actually dropped by her first label. “I was going through some depressing, dark times,” Katy explains on the trailer to her new movie “Part of Me.” “But it’s a journey and I learned so much from that journey.”

Now she tells the magazine, “I’m not like, ‘Ugh, number one again.’ It’s funny, though—my label gets so caught up in the statistics, just because they’re excited.

“But for me, I don’t need to grind it into anyone’s head that I’m popular. If you like my music, great, and if you don’t, whatever. I’m going to keep making it either way,” she said.

Her fashion inspirations are “Agyness Deyn, Chloë Sevigny, Daphne Guinness, Natalie Wood, Judy Jetson and Wonder Woman.” But she adds: “I don’t like to take fashion too seriously.”

“My heroes in film are women like Kristen Wiig, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. They’re gorgeous, but they’re confident enough to be able to laugh at themselves.”

It looks like Katy would be interested in doing comedy on the big screen. But as far as being a sex symbol, “I want to be the pinup of the future, like Rachael in Blade Runner.”
